Loves It, Hates It

Posted by: L

Weekend Wear
Loves it!

Ok, Readers.

This has been on my mind for a while now (ok, months!). My inner high school girl with a lust for all things Abercrombie and Fitch is excited, but my hips/ass/thighs are hesitant.

Does anyone else remember rocking the army green A&F cargos with the pull strings? Maybe worn with DocMartens and a logoed A&F long sleeved shirt or sweater. Anyone? Well... they've gone and gotten themselves a brand-spankin-new adult look now. Introducing:

Cargo pants with skinny legs.

I'm sure you have all by now seen the J Brand Houlihans (if you haven't you're living under a rock and I extend no sympathy for you!). Especially when they've been seen on celebrities from as early as February, such as:

{Rihanna - Image via denimology.com}

{Khloe Kardashian - Image via denimblog.com}

{Gwen Stefani and Cheryl Cole - Images via fabsugar.co.uk}

I love when the cargo pants are dressed up with heels (minus Gwen who is on Mommy-Duty), and I especially love the leopard print that Rihanna and Khloe's stylists chose. (And, lets face it, I think anything that Cheryl Cole does is genius. Love her.)

With Labor Day here before we know it and as the temperatures will start to drop, it will be time to tuck away the skirts and sundresses and reach for pants (bleh). How would the cargo pants be whilst studying for hours in the library?

Oh, look here, I have some extra page flags tucked right here in my side pocket! Extra highlighter? Ya! You bet! Oh, just kidding, it's extra lip gloss! heh heh

They sold out real quick when they first came out early this year, and now the price has gone up just a bit ($228-$230).

So far, I love it! My only reservations are the pockets on the widest part of a girl's hips. So a changing room session is definitely in order. Of course with all skinny pants and jeans there should never, ever be bagging/sagging in the butt, thighs, or knees. (So be careful with the spandex count in the pair you choose if you purchase another brand! Too much spandex = extra sagging).

Bloomies, via the link above, has four colors so far, too:
  • Black (Hate!)
  • Sharkskin
  • Vintage Navy
  • Olive (Love!)
While Nordstrom has three colors:
  • Vintage Navy
  • Vintage Taupe
  • Vintage Olive

So, Readers, what do you think? Do you love the look or do you hate it?

Would you spend $230+ for a pair of J Brand Houlihans? Is it just too much for a pair of pants that are weekend-only? Would you look for a less expensive pair? Or are you going to forgo the cargo look?

Loves it, Hates It: V-Day Edition

Posted by: B & L

February 14th, a day earmarked by the naked weapon-wielding baby who calls himself "cupid," or, better known as Valentine's Day, is right around the corner.

B and L have had several discussions regarding this "holiday" and have found themselves on two completely different opposite ends of the "feelin' it" spectrum, and so have prepared for you, dear readers, a special "Loves it, Hates it!" for your reading pleasure.

Take B: "Valentine's Day? Loves it!"
B, a girl's girl through and through. Just about everyday she hopes she will meet a guy who will sweep her off her feet. Romance: a dream come true.

"I love tokens of appreciation, especially when they are out of the blue. Flowers and/or chocolates? Yes, please!! Valentine's Day is just another chance for a guy to send those tokens to show you how much he wants you or thinks about you!! But the BEST part of any appreciation is the card; however, to get the extra points, a personal message is required! (Come on, guys, none of that lazy BS of just signing your name! Even if it is sans personal message, I will gladly accept your card with a smile. You got half-way there!)

Now that I'm single, I'm going to have to rip a page out from Cher Horowitz's book and send myself flowers and chocolates for V-Day!! Helllllloooo Godiva. Mmmmm....Delicious."

Or, take L: "Valentine's Day? Hates it!"
L, a girly-girl on the outside, but a completely stereotypical "man" when it comes to mushy things. Ugh.

"I do not like chic flicks, the Lifetime network, or talking about childbirth and periods. Don't even get me started on stuffed animals. I'm almost 25, for crying out loud.

I just cannot understand why B is getting so worked up over this one day. She already has a Plan A and a Plan B! Why B, why?!

If I'm into someone, I do not need Hallmark to put a deadline on me to do something nice, or get worked up over it. You all know I'm so.not.Type.A. with schedules and planning...unless it's a tropical vacation (and now we're off on a tangent)!

I would be happy with a slap on the bum and maybe a Whopper Jr. ...with fries."

Readers...share your thoughts about Valentine's Day!

Lady Gaga making a cameo in Beyoncé music video: "Loves It!"

Lady Gaga makes a sexy cameo and is featured on the remix of Beyoncé's song "Video Phone".

Could it get any better?

Maybe....if there was a throw back to the Lady Marmalade days when four or five fab singers/performers team up together to create one hot single. Perhaps this time around we could see Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. Rihanna would be an amazing add to mix up the dynamics to form the Fab Five (B is obviously starting to get ahead of herself).

Looking at it from a practical standpoint all five of them have a connection with at least one other Fab Five member so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch. Plus there have even been several collaborations already...so let's just push those collaborations a little bit further.

Three words to describe this type of project: Music Executive's Fanatsy.

*Sigh* If only.

Loves It, Hates It

Le sigh. To be a sexy co-ed once again.

Granted, L does sport her sorority's flip flops still and B does sport her sorority's sweatshirt to class, but, neither of us are not adding any new lettered apparel into our wardrobes.

And, having graduated college does not mean we cannot lust for the time when we once adored it!

So, for all the undergrads: check out 2 Preppy Girls online gift shop here featuring everything your lettered heart could desire!

Get everyday must-haves, like:
  • Travel mugs (can never have enough!);
  • Key Fobs (darling!); and
  • Wrap towels (perfect for getting ready in!).
Every item can come complete with your house's letters!

But wait, the cuteness can now fit into our (?semi) adult lives, because the orders don't have to just be in your house's letters, but can be in your initials, too!

"Loves it!"

And, really, when don't you need a Greek Letter Chaise Lounge towel? Hell-ohh!

Loves It or Hates It

Unlimited Texting: "Loves It!"

Generally speaking, B is attached to her Blackberry. She keeps it close by: either in her purse, on her desk, or in pocket. B even sleeps with her Blackberry right next to her-- on the nightstand, not cuddled next to her in the bed!

For a girl who sends and receives over 1,500 texts in a slow month, unlimited texting is a no-brainer.

But, B didn't always have unlimited texting.

Before she saw the light, she would look at her cell bill and would think, "Wow, why don't I have unlimited texting?"

What finally caused B to switch?

When she found out she had sent and received over 800 texts within 10 days to people out of her network-- texts to and from people not within her network was a separate, and yes, extremely high, expense.

Needless to say, the Verizon bill has been updated and now B is loving the unlimited texts and any worries about her over-active thumbs have been subsided!

Loves It, Hates It

Walking to class with a tote completely filled with your laptop computer, books, and spare pens (Lesson, Learned!) and then having the other books you're carrying in your arms weigh you down (because all your books don't fit in your bag!): "Hates it!"

Having a nice young gentleman rush to open the doors for B & L as they are struggling from their trek from the parking garage into school: "Loves it!"

B & L want to extend a HUGE thanks to their mystery man (and fellow classmate!) that didn't walk, but ran(!) when he saw their hot messes coming to help them out!

THANK YOU!!!

Guys rocking the GQ look: "Loves It!"

Generally, guys have this way of looking so delicious you just want to get your hands on them.

This reaction increases when a guy looks like he stepped right off the cover of GQ! You know what B & L are talking about - dressed up, rocking the suit with an air around them that is like "Yes I look good, I'm playing the Mr. Shy Guy but I can be so bad".

Guys rocking the GQ look is definitely one reason to love the evening section-- after all, the fellas need to look good for their real jobs!

When a guy has to dash on over to school after spending the day in the office, B & L mentally think - "Hello there Mr. Eye Candy! You are looking very GQ. Don't mind if we do check you out. Thank you very much".

Men, thank you for looking so delish!

Ladies take the time to enjoy the scenery when you see a man looking F-I-N-E!

Loves It, Hates It

"The Circus" a second time around: "Loves It!"

B & L went to "The Circus" this past Saturday to see Britney Spears. As you may recall, they were at the first show in Boston, too. However (!) they definitely thought the second time around was much more fierce. The Big Apple acts were tightened up and BritBrit performed more songs off the (highly underrated) Blackout Album.1

Top Three things B & L Loved:
First: B & L had amazing seats: just a little off-center from the middle ring! They were so close they could see the sweat on BritBrit's back! (And, secretly hoped she would sweat on them!) They saw her facial expressions (tongue out, face scrunched up!, giggling) when she forgot some of the lyrics to the songs she was performing and also noticed her gum chewing throughout! And, they were downright giddy seeing her crawl onto the lowered stage-- it was almost like being backstage.2

Second: Britney interacted more with the crowd this time, giving a lot more than a "What up, Boston!!" She even brought an unsuspecting guy on stage where she nearly gave him a lap dance. Why couldn't that have been B & L, why?!

Finally: She looked fabulous! Her body was tight (Really? Did you really have two kids, Ms. Spears??), her outfits were outrageous (think: the more rhinestoned bra/pantie combos, the better!), and the dance routines H O T!

Enjoy some photos from the concert below.

B & L are still a little confused as to some of the magic tricks performed, though. Like, how did she get her middle sawed off??? They saw you go into the magician's box, saw him saw you through the middle, and saw3 the middle piece come out!! How?!

1. Seriously. You would never know what a train wreck her life was when that album came out if you just listened to it! It's amazing what going back to blonde and one conservatorship can do!
2. Next time.
3. Too many "saw"s? heh heh

Loves It, Hates It

When someone is going to straight up tell you the truth: "Loves It!"

There are usually a few friends or family members who can sit there and tell you straight up what everyone else is thinking, but no one wants to actually tell you.

It is really refreshing to:
  1. Hear the truth - even when you don't want to hear it; and
  2. Know there are people out there who you trust and know will tell you how they feel - no secrets.
Hearing what another honestly thinks of a situation -- especially when it is from a trusted person-- is definitely helpful when you are trying to figure out your dilemma at hand. Or, just having someone tell you that you need to pause and look at things from several different perspectives will definitely make you stop, re-evaluate, and correct where necessary.

By the end of the conversation -- even if you wanted it to end better it actually did-- you feel thankful that your trusted confidant was there to make sure your head was on straight before you make a major mistake.

Cliché, but true, honesty is the best policy.

Having your male boss take notice of your designer watch: "Loves it!"

Having you male boss then joke and ask you if you matched your nail polish to the watch: "Loves it!"

Having your male boss then tell you he bought his wife a Hermés bangle because "she just doesn't wear a lot of jewelry, so [he] wanted to get her something simple, but quality:" "Loves it!"

L's boss at her grown up job speaks her language!

Have you had a similar situation as L, where you can joke around, but definitely get the job done? Or, have you ever felt like you were just not on the same level with your boss or your co-workers? Let us know!

Loves It, Hates It

Eminem's New Song - The Warning: "Loves It!"

Ever since Eminem has hit mainstream, B has been a fan, so it should come as no surprise that she would think his new song - "The Warning" - where Eminem disses Mariah for her alleged diss track "Obsessed," was great.

She first heard about it when L texted her all the deets (L obviously knowing B would be totally interested in hearing this!). As soon as B got home she was not disappointed. Afterall, Eminem has built his career on dissing others (and making it funny at the sametime!) as well as having some serious songs, such as "Toy Soldiers."

Well "The Warning" does not disappoint. It definitely brings the DRAMA and shows why Eminem is the top selling artist of this decade (that's the 2000s).

Awkward Family Photos: "Loves It!"

Ever look at a family photo and think "OMG. That's so awkward." Or, maybe the photo just made you die of laughter because everyone looks ridiculous in it?

If you answered "yes," then Awkward Family Photos is for you. It's a website where people submit their family photos or a photo of themselves that is A-W-K-W-A-R-D!

B's personal favorite is the Awkward Solo Photo: Roman Shade.

Check it out for a great laugh and maybe it will make you feel better about your family photos!

Happy Monday!

Random quotes that makes you laugh: "Loves It!"

Have you ever heard something so random that made you crack up with laughter?

When you are having a long day or bad day or day that just needs some laughter added to it these random quotes seem to make everything better.

Case in point: B randomly got an email from her friend T (Shout out to T!) and it was full of random quotes. Well B was having one of those days where she needed a good laugh, so she read this email and just cracked up laughing to some of the random quotes.

Below are some of the quotes that we're sure you can relate to:

"Whenever I'm Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don't mind if I do!"

"I’m pretty sure I get 'self beer goggles'. The more beers I drink, the hotter I appear in the mirror. Sad downfall to reality: when I see those Facebook photos of the previous night and realize how awful I actually look when wasted."

"Beware your drunken inner-entrepreneur. While nursing a hangover, I found my handwriting on a wadded up bar napkin that simply read, New Restaurant Idea: Date Crepe! I can't decide if I should be more worried about the concept, or the fact that I added an exclamation point."

B & L love a good laugh, so a random quote or something that is so ridiculous that makes one burst out laughing is a definite "Loves It!"

Loves It, Hates It

Being schooled in trash, class, and "tru" trash: "Loves It!"

B was recently schooled in "trash," "class" and "tru trash" by her co-worker, C, and is currently trying to school L in the lingo.

"Trash:" not the classic "white trash" that people might automatically assume when you say something is trash. Rather, "trash" is something with a campy vibe to it. Everyone has trash in them and when that side comes out you should embrace it and love it! (Remember: we are not talking white trash here.)

"Tru trash" (-e left out intentionally!): something really trash. You don't hear a lot of class used except when you are being sarcastic and it's really trash.

Just be careful if you use "class." If you are joking around, make sure you display it that way and if you mean as a compliment make sure the person knows you think they are class. Be careful that the person does not take it as "klass" because that is actually a negative trash insult.

Now that you're in the know-- go and have fun with "trash," "class," and "tru trash"!

Remember it is NOT white trash just a campy vibe.

Loves It, Hates It

B & L are officially seeing CIRCUS (!!!) for the 2nd time on August 29th...Loves It!

If you aren't a fan of B.Spears that's fine, we won't force you to love her, although we do think she is FABULOUS!

However, you have to give props where they are deserved: Britney is the top female selling artist of this decade (that's the 2000s) and is the fifth best selling artist overall (again of this decade). If you don't believe it, just check out this article.

We could continue going on and on with all of Britney's accomplishments but there are hot messes and fashion successes to spot.

xoxo
