I was going through the mail at my parents' house when suddenly my eyes widened and began to sparkle.
Could it be true? A Black Card Invitation for my mother?
I delicately placed the invitation on the kitchen table and rush to tell my father the fabulous news.
To my dismay my Dad responds: "What's a Black Card?"
I responded: "Blasphemy!! Who doesn't know what a Black Card is? It's just one of the top notch credit cards out there. It's a dream come true that Mom got the invite."
B's Dad: "Ugh. A waste of money if I ever heard of one."
I decided to ignore this comment and go to school. The quicker I went to the school the sooner I would get back and then I would talk to my mother about the Black Card invite.
The following morning I finally had an opportunity to talk to my mother about the Black Card.
B's Mom: "B, first of all I highly doubt we got an invitation for the Black Card you are talking about and it sounds like a waste of money but I look over the invitation."
As she opened the envelope I held my breath and smiled.
B's Mom: "Well I don't know why you've been talking about a Black Card from American Express...this is from Visa."
I responded: "What?!" as my dreams of holding an American Express Black Card was cut into pieces.
Notes to B: Next time look at the return address to see who is sending the invitation. Plus, the official name of the American Express Black Card is the Centurion Card....that's the name that would be used on the invite.
